ok, thanks, Dorjac, I'll check that out, Google must hae plenty of pics.
It was cut back by the gardener before I moved; think I've got a pic of it before and after - that was September-October, so it's had about six months since. I'll see what it does, and how much it does it.

Might be a spirea similar to wot I got Fran. Can be cut further back after flowering if you want.
