Back in the garden: part 1

Many thanks for all the lovely comments about my last posting. Sonia sends her thanks and love. She is recovering slowly and so far, no real problems, so thats a relief.
Anyway, in the bits of free time I have had, I have been in the garden doing some bits and bobs and taking photos of the plants that seem to be doing well.
I have not watered much because the ground is still wet under the layer of mulch on the borders. In fact, the mulch has formed a thick, spongey layer which has meant that plants I thought had been lost to the winter such as my collection of Agapanthus, are coming back!
This is one of the many Agapanthus poking its head above ground.
These are my 2 varieties of Heuchera that cost me pennies in the sad plants sale at B&Qs. Looking good!
The next few photos show some of the geraniums that have started to flower….
Thats it for now. Part 2 is on the way……

I know what you mean. Here in Hull, we are really dry. At work, I am having to buy in more dry food for the deer, goats, sheep, wallabies and alpacas as there is little grass for them to graze. I am going around the park pruning leafy branches off the trees to give them some variety and we have sprinklers on 24hrs a day at the moment to try to get the grass to grow. I am looking forward to the gales coming on Monday in the hope they blow down some leafy branches for the animals to eat!

Hello Geraniumdad! Glad to have you back, and that your wife is getting a bit better!
It's amazing what survives in one person's garden just melts away in another. I'm staggered your agapanthus has shown itself, and looks in great form as well! I'm going to look at the weather forecast now...I haven't been in to see any tv lately, so, arrrrgh!...GALES?!!

Forgot to add that the photos were all taken between April 6th and 23rd. The garden looks completey different as the next part of the blog will show.

Look forward to that now. Yes it is so windy here today, I tried to plant my tomatoes out but could hardly stand up!!(the wind will now dry up the little rain we have just had too!) Can't win.

It will be nice to see your newest photos and your thriving garden, GDad. It is good news that you share....your wife recovering according to plan :)
I've had an hydrangea come back that I thought was lost too....it seems from most of the blogs on GoY that there have been lots of pleasant suprises of survival through our hard winter.
Happy gardening, GDad....and continuing good recovery to your wife too.
