Hi, yes it said it will be exceptionally cold everywhere for this time of year! Hope you don't get the snow! Perhaps we are going to have a 'real' winter this year - followed by a 'real' summer hopefully!? JO x

Gwendas, i could stand a cold winter, just to have a decent summer next year, i think we are just wishful thinkers but it would be nice to be able to sit in the garden in the evenings, having barbecues, being able to potter around the garden & be able to cut the grass when it needs it. Roll on next summer.

I hope you've all stocked up on thermals and have got protection ready for those precious plants next week! I am not looking forward to it - but it's OK if it stays dry. I do not enjoy walking Henry in cold driving rain!

I dont mind so much the cold dry frosty days, like you spritz dont like the cold wet & windy weather.

I don't like the cold be it dry or wet, and it is cold for October this year.
I'd better get my fuchsias in soon then. Usually it's nearly end of Nov before I put them in.
I prefer the rain. It's usually milder when it rains - well it is usually. I can't stand being cold.

Looks like you are all in for a big time freeze. I also am expecting it, the forecasters are predicting a hard freeze for Tues and Wed. This is about 2 weeks or so before the average date, but I can't say I didn't see it coming. Big harvest on Monday and lots of peppers and tomatillos to pick, and freeze.

We have heard that a cold spell is on its way as well.
We must finish getting everything in the garden ready for the winter.

We put on our head torches and worked outside until 6.20 this evening getting the storage areas ready for the begonias. When the film crew come on Wednesday the begonias could be a slimy mess!

Head torches! You sound like coal miners. :-)
Now that is dedication!

Well we've had it all today - sun, rain and hail! It's certainly dropped in temperature tonight so I'm now in front of the coal fire on my laptop! Went to my favourite garden centre today to escape the weather but still feed my gardening passion1
Olive tree all wrapped up with fleece at the ready too.
Love all your comments!

Hi Jo , i didnt see country file but i have just read our forecast for the next week. looks like it will be the same here, very low temps the next few days with a risk of snow. snow??? my god that would be early if it snows in October.
rest of the forecast is for heavy frost so you would do right to protect your olive tree.
