Open Garden Day

With a little bit of luck i will be opening my garden on the 20th June this year.
Despite the silly old bat who is organising it sounded a bit doubtful when i rang her up to say we want to open it.The last time i opened my garden was about 6 years ago.But it has changed since then , and i told her so as well.
She should be grateful because the money that is being raised is going to Farleigh Hospice anyway. If she wont let me open my garden i will be putting in a complaint to higher people and it wont be her.
I will be selling plants refreshments and doing burgers and hotdogs. So hopefully i will do well

Snag is hijuju there are rules and regulations to be followed if you are opening your garden via the Yellow Book. Our garden is often open for local church funds and the like but would not be accepted by Yellow Book because of safety issues.

Yes but we always have the rules and regulations in place. My husband has a food handling licence anyway.
Plus there is never anything for people to fall over anyway.
We have opened our garden before.,and had no problems.

Can't you just fill in the form and send it in - or submit on-line? Hope you do manage to get your garden open... I'm not going down the route of certificates to serve any food!

Good luck. I hope it's a nice day for you, and lots of people turn up.

Hijuj in this blog you imply you know bout the Yellow Book. Yet in a question you ask what it is and where you can buy it... Could you perhaps be a little clearer.

Moon Grower if you look at my question it was where could i buy the book from and MY HUSBAND was wondering what it was like.

But surely if you open your garden for the Yellow Book you and your husband know what it is like... Or perhaps you are not opening under the yellow book scheme at all but something different?

I am not opening under the Yellow book scheme and never have had done. After seeing what people have to go through watching it on tv , its to much of a hastle.
Its our local church who does open gardens every 2 years

That is how we open our garden too... thankfully there are always several gardens open and the kirk organises the teas etc. in the village hall so we can just focus on the garden.

I love going to the none organised open gardens as well as NGS's. Never know what little treasures one can buy.! I did open mine two years running for our HPS garden society & Alpine garden society. I don't think I would qualify for NGS as we are too small a garden. Good Luck with yours.
