My 8 foot Bay tree has now become a home for Blackbirds they’ve made a nest and laid some eggs in it.So we are now going to have to be careful as it is only 6 feet away from our back door

We too have a blackbird nest. It is sited in the privet hedge which has been trained up and over the back gate, so only inches above our heads on the way in and out. I don't know whether the pair will be spooked about how close they are to humans. I have been putting those dried worms on the path leading to our kitchen which the other birds are reluctant to come for. Mr and Mrs blackbird are quite happy to come however and sit close by if we are a bit late with their "takeaway" and stare into the itchen window.

I finally managed to speak to the RSPB today. They said that as the birds havent been back as yet is that there should at least be another 6 eggs in the nest, and that they will come back in their own time, to sit on the eggs, ready for them to hatch.
Very nice man i spoke to , very young , but he did suggest that i should keep an eye on them

Aren't blackbirds silly! Still at least the bay should provide some cover. We once had a robin's nest about 3 foot off the ground. I waited till they were out and put chicken wire round abouts to keep the cats off but to no avail.
