In the Spring i found 3 small plants growing in one of my pots….. they are now quite big and i have put them in there own pots… i still do not know what they are… they seem to be growing very fast, every time i go out i look at the leaves of trees and plants but as of yet have not seen anything similar to mine…
Has anyone any ideas…..

Could it be 'mock orange' ? Not sure though, although that leaf is familiar!

Its a willow tree. The seed was probably in the compost.

well done B, there you go Holly, now you know,

I'm sorry, but I beg to differ. A willow as I know it has narrow strappy leaves. I have one at the back of my garden.

No Cinderella, I am afraid that they don't. Many of the British natives have broader, furry leaves like this.

Sorry then, I don't know of them.

It does look simular Holly has it got squiggley lines through the lines of the leaves and a serated edge, the expert on the coral tree would be Delonix1 , if you asked him kindly he would varify I m sure for you or Meanie he has a coral tree too.

Your welcome Holly hope Meanie or Delonix can ID it for you, no harm in asking them both to take a look for you.

Holly - I can confirm that it is not Erythrina, which has thorny green stems. The edge of the Erythrina leaves, which grow in threes, are smooth too.
Sorry.

I still think its goat willow, it bears loads of fluffy seeds that blow everywhere and then pop up all over the garden, we have one at the back of us and I have spent most of the summer pulling the seedlings out!!

Have you got a pic of it grandmage...

No sorry Holly I keep pulling them out!!!!! Lol. If you google 'goat willow' and click images, take a close look and see what you think! Oh. just realised do you mean the tree at the back of me? It is three houses down so would not get a good photo, its huge by the way!

Oh ! back to the drawing board! At least yours is in a pot and can be contained, maybe next spring you will see catkins/pussy willow etc. on it then that will confirm or not whether it is willow family! Lol

Looks a bit like a plum/cherry leaf, maybe the birds left a wild cherry stone for you.
