Wisley Gardens, Surrey

13th May was our 25th wedding anniversary and hubby asked what I would like to do for the day.
Kew Gardens or Wisley was the answer so we set off on the 3 hour journey to Wisley. May was not the best of months this year so many of the plants were not as forward as you would expect, but whenever you visit you will always miss some of the flowers in bloom.
We were there at the time that the Rhodo’s and Azaleas were out and the fruit trees were in full bloom, so a complete picture. T
We wandered the glades and admired those and the spectacle of the Wisteria climbing into the topmost branches of the trees. They must be magnificent now they are in bloom.
The magnolias were in bloom and I coveted a delicious lemon yellow variety.
So much to see, all the small gardens, the large herbaceous borders and the superb display of violas and pansies laid out triangle pattern.
All in all a wonderful day and of course there is the garden centre part – we came home with plants, of course.
What better excuse to buy them than as a rememberance of our 25th anniv.
Ribes speciosum
Agapanthus Silver Moon – needed something with ‘silver’ in the title and couldn’t fit a silver birch in the car, but are having some later in the year!
Lovely lilac flowering drooping broom, Cytisus Purpureus Lilac Lady, now finished flowering but putting on growth.
One of my favourite flowers the primula, this one with green flowers. Primula Francesca.
There must of been more, the bill was huge!

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Wisley gardens. Any photos taken? I visit them nearly every year and although there is plenty to see all year round, I prefer late August in order to see the dahlias in the trial grounds.
