Wow! It's raining!

Today we have actually had some rain, something we haven’t had for weeks! You might think I am exaggerating but we really haven’t had anything you could call rain, one day of the odd spot, one day of misty fine drizzle for an hour, but no proper rain.
All the water butts were almost empty and of course we have now had to move two that were against the building that is being demolished, so I am having to watch all that lovely water soak away – not into the garden but into the grass that will also disappear under the builders vehicles.
Two days to go before the blitz and still have some cowslips, hawthorn bush and the phygelius to dig up and plant somewhere else, also some daffodil bulbs that are probably so deep that they are impossible to find.
Thank goodness for the rain, I have been putting out plants and watching them wilt and even the violas have looked wilted and they have been in years.
We seem to live between the two water courses and any rain clouds seem to follow them and bypass us – just a dry bit in the middle!
The rain started with the fine stuff so it soaked in, rather than a downpour to run off the parched ground, so another good thing. I will put up with the mud for a day or two!
Peacocks not happy, they don’t like the rain and have been up to roost most of the day in the barn.

We've had rain for two days now, it's very welcome indeed and will do the garden a great deal of good!

Crikey, you're lucky. We've had rain most of today and a bit during last night. We've had a few days of rain over last month but the main feature of the weather has been the cold winds...playing havoc with my borders!! My water butts are most definitely not empty...and we are usually one of the driest parts of the country here in south Essex!

I'm happy for you. I don't like it too
dry :o( Your garden must have enjoyed it as well ... However, I do wish we didn't have quite so much rain here.
I hope you can salvage your plants before the work begins.
