Dahlias, dahlias, dahlias ....and more dahlias

Visited the Ayletts Nursery dahlia trial grounds to the north of London near London Colney
So many dahlias on display. I have photographed the name and information board followed by the dahlia. There were 86 different dahlias . Some had gone past their best but I took photos of many, initially in close up and later with a wider view of the bed.
I have their catalogue so if you would like a bit more information on any of them , just let me know.
And there were so many more too. Equally interesting were the different selections of wildflower mix that were planted and flowering around the dahlia ground to encourage insects to pollinate.
It’s not too far from my house so I might go back and pay another visit. I can see me coming home and clearing an area for a wildflower garden soon !!
That’s if there any space with all the new dahlias I suddenly want !!

Not too late Costas. Will be open for weeks to come. It's on the A414 near London Colney on the road from Hatfield to Hemel Hempstead. The Gardens of the Rose is nearby too if you want to make a day of it.

Thank you Inverglen. I have been to the Garden of the rose dozens of time and I was there in June. It's been on the decline during the last few years and they are now trying to redesign everything. I used to be a member for many year but I decided to cancel it as I do not visit it very often as I used to do in the past.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't know that. It's many years since I have been to the Gardens of the Rose and it sounds like I should wait a bit longer before I visit again.

Teegee mentioned your dahlia blog which inspired him to have a walk down memory lane and let us see what he used to grow. Your blog is well worth a visit. Ayletts is too far away for a vist so thank you for sharing.

Absolutely amazing. I have never seen so many dahlias in all my life. I too live in Middlesex and if I knew I would visit the place. Now it is a little too late. Many dahlias but not so many you see at Wisley gardens in Surrey. A small dahlia garden exist in Chenies Manor near Rickmansworth.
