This Beautiful Butterfly was Decalred EXTICT back in1979!!!! How Awful we all say&its due to Man kind & not taking quick enough action2stop it happening when we knew it was declinging rapidly :(

In 1980 it was reintroduced to the UK & with the Help From The National Trust in Somerset land was carefully Managed & the Habitat was made suitable for their Breeding Needs as it was so Vulnerable.

These Beautiful Large Blue Butterflys Can Be Seen Again Enjoying the Collard Hill In Somerset :)

Many Many Other Butterflys are Rapidly Declining & Need Our Help From the Same Fate !! for More Information go to: www.nationaltrust.org.uk

good one Jacque , I hate the thought of losing any of our wild life , big or small , the world would be a sad place without them , as gardeners we do our best to encourage butterflys etc. Lovely picture

I don't think I've seen many buterflies this year, and the only ones I've seen are the white ones. Haven't seen a ladybird for years nor a hedgehog. It's really worrying. It's a beautiful photo Jacque.

It's a lovely butterfly Jacque. I wonder if it is around in other parts of Europe. We often see the small blue here in our gartden, but not the large blue.

I love to see the butterflies in my garden, sadly not so many these days, surely all this wet weather and lack of sunshine must also be having some effect on them?

Sadly, people only seem to care when these things are gone. I watched a program about China's wildlife the other day. It said about these turtles - there were only 3 left in the world. It said that after filming one of them died and the other two are in separate zoos - you'd think they would be keen to get them together to breed or get scientists involved to try and clone them or something? And then there's the Amercian Carrier Pigeon, the last ones of which were shot for sport in the full knowledge they were the very last ones. The Tazmanian Tiger, the last one died in a zoo and I believe the species was only given protection a few weeks before the last one died. When will people learn?
