For the past 2/3wks iv seen 4 Beatiful Gold Finches Eatting From & Hopping about in My Laural /Pear Trees ! I was amazed @ seeing them & so many 2 ! Well yesterday i brought a Niger Seed Feeder as Many Members z they Love To Eat This Seed:) so i follwed the Advice & went to My Local Pet Shop & Purchased a Niger Seed Feeder With some seed 2 fill it with :)

This Morning about 8am i did my normal nose out my Kitchen Window while waiting fro my Kettle 2 Boil for a Nice Cuppa Tea & i couldnt blieve my Eyes ! I rushed to get My Camera & heres what i saw :)

I was so amazed & i kept watching him , Then i slowly went outside creeping over to my trellis & hid behind it so i could get a better look/Photo of Him :) Then another Male Gold Finch Joined Him :)

It was Wonderful Watching Them & i couldnt believe they were Feeding From The New Feeder so Soon? :)

That's wonderful Jacque. They must have liked the seeds. I bet you were over the moon to see them. I used to see them in my old garden but none up here.

They are such beautiful birds, Jacque. Ours come every day and last year we had their babies as well - all four came! You did the right thing with Niger seed - they also like teasels.

I've only ever seen one gold finch in the garden. I put out niger seed in hopes but am not as lucky as you yet, Jacque. The long tailed tits like it though so it's not going to waste.

Thanks for sharing this Jacque. What wonderful little birds and so well photographed.
Sorry about my missive on your photo about the Teasels. I wouldn't have bored you with it if I'd seen this blog first.

Very good pics Jacque, its good to see the little fellows and nice to see the different species, apparently Niger seed is the gourmet of seeds and will attract a lot of birds.
Unfortunately our birds are being frightened off by a stalking cat at the moment and we are going to try a water cat scarer, it works with the hosepipe and a movement sensor and sends a small jet of water out when it senses something as big as a cat, hope it works or I will have to resort to diving out the back door waving and shouting again, I get some funny looks though. :o)

Well, Jacque thats it now...they wont leave your garden now youve provided that niger feeder ! Hopefully they will breed like ours did last year. You will be able to tell the young and adults apart as they have the same markings but without the red faces. The babies develop that red a few months later ! Well done you !

OMG! Now, I'm so jealous Jacque because in the autumn I put up a niger feeder to attract goldfinches because they are one of my favourite garden birds, but I haven't seen a single one on it! :-( Do you mind me asking how much your feeder cost and where you got it from? I got a cheap one from B&Q, but I'm not sure it's very good. The better ones seemed too expensive - about £15ish, which I felt was too much.

Lucky you they are such beautiful coloured birds, we usually have teasels in the garden will have to try the niger seed.
