Hi Jacque. Please tell me you have the first three photos in the wrong order because otherwise I will have to tell you that you are supposed to pull out the weeds not the flowers. You must have been in a rush as looking at your clock it seems to have taken you no time at all.
29 Sep, 2009
Hello Stranger good 2 see u :)the Clock isnt a clock but a Temp Dial GF :) & yes i must confess the Borders do look a little empty but come spring itl be full agin ;)

You've done a lot of work there Jacque. It should look lovely in the spring. What did you do with all those begonias (?) I saw in the first pic. I love that clock on your fence. Is it a real one ?
30 Sep, 2009
Hi Hywel Yes the Clock Temp Dial is real & a Rite Bargain 2 :) The Begonias i planted into the Large Containers u can see in the Borders :) Im going 2 try&over winter them in My Greenhouse :)
30 Sep, 2009
I find Begonias easy to overwinter. They can take temps down to almost freezing.
30 Sep, 2009
I tryed to over winter some last year but lost`m cos i keptm 2 wet :(
30 Sep, 2009
Yes - keep them dry and in a frost free place. They should last then :o)
30 Sep, 2009
Thanx Hywel il give it ago X

30 Sep, 2009
You have to have winter or no pretty flowers ...I like winter just fine..it is doing it's job..and new winter birds come and there are warm fires and cuddly blankets and hot chocolate..mmm...crunchy frost under foot...snuggle time!
30 Sep, 2009
yes cat i like that part but my garden looks so empty :o(
30 Sep, 2009
I like that Bit Loads to CatF &always gain a good half stone after Drinking Mugs&Mugs Of Hot Choc & Eatting Yummi Biscuits wrapped in so many blankets i cant move lol :)
30 Sep, 2009
Time to celebrate winter sleep with lights then SanB ...twinkle your gardens up and Jacque..you must only have 1 mug of chocolate..lol..and no Biscuits unless it is Saturday. Take yourself out with a warm coat, gloves, scarf, and hat and take a refeshing walk round, then you will be warmer under your cozy blanket and maybe if Phil were to join you it would help? Men make great heaters in the winter I have found... :) Have you seen the wonderful grips you can get to put on the bottom of your shoes so you don't slip on ice?
30 Sep, 2009
I hate this bit, when you have to take stuff out!! But I know it'll look superb in the spring!
30 Sep, 2009
LOl il give all that a go4 sure this winter Catf :) Iv Found My Phil 2 be a Fab Heater but i think he needs serviceing as getting noisey Zzzzzzz lol ,It does look bare 4 longer than any 1 wants i agree MadP :(

Do you all plant the Flowering Kale in the winter there? It is very popular here over the winter months..also Calendula seems to bloom through winter here often.
I enjoy seeing the branches bare in the winter for a while...I see them as beautiful in themselves and they often are bright red or white..but regular dark limbs I find lovely in their structure as well, a bit like seeing the muscle strength that holds the leaves & birds of summer. :)
1 Oct, 2009
Iv only grown Kale once CatF as it didnt do well 4 me :(
1 Oct, 2009
It's looking good Jacque, and it's going to look great in the spring :))))))))))))))))

3 Oct, 2009
