Why do some people get bitten by mosquitoes more then other?

Woke up this morning to yet more bites! Lost count of the ones I’ve already got. My new perfume of choice is Deat but forgot to put it on yesterday when I was in the garden. They don’t go for my hubby or daughter as much as me so I was feeling really picked on. Looked it up this morning and it turns out my blood group O is against me as well as being that surtain age where I keep on “glowing” :-).

Now that's strange (or is it ?) I have blood group O and suffer badly from insect bites. If I get stung by a horsefly the affected area swells up like a big egg and is very painful.
I use Anthisan to put on the bites :(

I was sitting here this morning realising that I've got more bites so looked it up on net. They said did a study where they put different samples of blood out for the mosquitoes and they seem to prefer O. It also said that adults get bitten more then children and if your boby temperature is hot that that attracts them. This last couple of years I have been getting bitten more then ever and now realised its caused by my certain age :-(. Hope you don't get anymore horseflies bites. I now try to remember to put repellent on everyday as it's got really bad.

I'm an O too. Outdoor insects don't bother me too much but cat fleas do - and OH has no trace of them...

Remembered to spray myself yesterday before going out and did arms and legs but woke up to find 2 new one on my neck! Sprayed that as well this morning.

Its funny Sue, this summer I've been covered in bites and I remember my mum used to be the same. Don't know if it is due to being O blood group or what but hubby hardly gets any but would you believe he doesn't know what group he is, he has a thing about needles.

That's interesting! I suffer a lot from bites and I am also O blood group. But I was under the impression that it isn't that we get bitten more, but rather that our antibodies react more strongly ....we have a sensitivity to their poison. Did anyone else think that?

Last time we went Caribbean we took Vitamin...was it A? and it really works..but the smell...eugh! Only worth it if you are going abroad I think....or perhaps to the West Highlands in summer.

I was talking to my brother a little while ago about I get covered in bites if I don't cover myself in deet and he said he used to be the same until he started making tea with Oregano. Has 1 cup a day and now never gets biten. He did say, he smells like a pizza :-). I looked it up and found that Oregano is a natural insect repellent. I might give that a go next year. He just uses 1tps of dried Oregano.
