Wow Joan, they are gorgeous, just what I need, its turned into a right drab day, snow turned to slush and my garden looks yukky, needed a bit of colour cos my moods about the same at the moment....

What a grand selection - plants become old friends and when they flower again and again it is a welcome sight - lovely pictures - Marigold

last summer I took time to really look at the beauty of flowers and marvel at their colour and form, so thanks for the blog it reminds me of my discovery moment.s

Hoping you have a better summer this year than last, Hywel, & that you veg meet your expectations.

I have more veg seeds this year than in any of the 3 years, at the end of March, since I began growing veg with Gerry on his allotments. I haven't bought more than a couple of packets but I've been given some packets by other people.

If only the weather would dry up & warm up so I can get back down on the allotment. Two weeks without doing anything is driving me crazy! With all the things I need to be getting on with & the spring just around the corner as well & lots of seeds to start off in the GH on the plot & the beds to finish of & the ...

Know exactly what you mean Balcony but it wont be long now..i usually have the spare bedroom full of trays/pots growing by now..but since we put a small heater in the g/house its all now in there..you will have to fill your windowsills up...:o)

Thanks Joanella but my windowsills are already full to overflowing with all my Amaryllis! Now they are flowering & the leaves have started to grow, in a short time half the available area for light will have been occupied & every time we enter the bedrooms we will have to switch on the light, even during the afternoons!

Look out for more Amaryllis photos as I've 7 bulbs in flower on our living room table at present! :-))

My kitchen is like that..have to keep light on most of the day..i think its the flats opposite that causes it.just seen your pics,they are beautiful flowers & look lovely all put together..well done.

Thanks very much, Joanella! :-)) There is nothing near enough to stop light entering our bedrooms/kitchen just the leaves of so many Amaryllis!

Besides which the sun enters directly in our 2 bedrooms almost from rising & lasts till well past midday when it then has moved far enough across the sky to enter in through our kitchen window as well as the balcony. About 3pm it blinds me sitting here at the computer &, with a heavy heart, I have to close the curtain! :-(( This is a very luminus flat even though we are on the ground floor!

You are lucky..i find all the rooms in our house are in shade except our front bedroom...mind you the sky is so gloomy & dark grey most days now so that doesnt help..right moan over for now..lol :o)

Oh i hope so Shirley..i am trying to plan my garden pots what colour goes with what etc..i am useless when it comes to doing it....got loads & loads of packets of seeds & more plants to come in may..i dont know where to start..pleased to see you back..little & often eh..:o)

Have a look at the 'Being Potty' blog by Spritzhenry in November 2010 ... she shows some brilliant colour combinations for pots and planters ...

I 'm pleased you found it, Joan ... my pots by the front door need a tonic I think! ... The Pansies & Violas have all but finished (already) and the Crocus are so short they can hardly be seen ... at least the Hebes are thriving in there! ... :o)

I have a few crocus come up in pots today but as you say they are so small..can you not put some baby bio in your pots or other feed..? came on here at 6pm i have only just caught up with pics/blogs/comments...it seems to be taking me ages lately..cant keep up..:o)

Good idea, Joan ... shall have a look on the garage shelves to see what there is that's suitable! ..... I reckon I'm about 5 days behind on the blogs ... as for pics ... not a hope of catching up ... lol!
