Hi joanella...that's bad news. Why do they have to damage things & plants that took such hard work to produce? What a shame for you.

Just mindless thugs, the only thing is if they get caught the punishment will never fit the crime, I say they should be made to sweep the streets ..... with toothbrushes!!!!

mad
Mad

The trouble is they rarely get caught, and even if they do not a lot happens to them. I too think they should be made to do some physical work wearing identifiable jackets. The parents should be made to be aware of what their kids are getting up to. Its unrealistic for parents to keep a watch on teenage kids all the time, but being brought up to respect others doesn't seem to be part of bringing up children in some quarters. I do feel so sorry for the poor allotment holders affected by this vandalism.
Knocking on doors and running away used to be about the worst thing I and my peers got up to, plus scrumping if you lived in the country

SIGH!!!! I'm so sorry, Joanella - it seems to be everywhere. Nobody seems to want to take action, do they?

He he Mad I used to scrump apples from the farmers orchard at the end of where we lived, it was a pig farmer who had a huge apple orchard and they were the best apples I ever tasted.
The only problem with identifying the thugs these days is someone will always cry that it is an infringement if the human rights, no worries about the poor victims human rights!!!

Just read your blog on breakins 3oct09,I know how you feel joanella our allotment site is the same I've had my shed broken into about six times my greenhouse glass smashed and even some crops stolen as well as my radio, camping gas cooker and would believe it my alarm clock.I feel sorry for the new comers as it puts them off, also for the older plot holders who've been there for 20/25 years do a hard days work go home and then the next day come back to sometimes nothing crops wrecked greenhouse smashed up or even their shed burnt to the ground,it's so heartbreaking when this happens and the expence our own pockets, they blame the kids through the school holidays sometimes I wonder. If you do have anymore serious damage or breakins report it to the police and ask for a crime number see if this helps,we now have the community police patroling our site.Best of luck for the future...

thanx allotment, sorry to hear of all your trouble on site we have not had it as bad as you but we are surrounded by a 7 foot fence,we do get some but i dont think its kids , last one was a generator went missing ,i doubt if telling the police would be any good as they have a plot on our site ( see in my pics they have the blue beds )and never come near they are supposed to teach local school kids, the plot is stupi the way its laid out no paths between massive beds nothing been planted since they have had it so its all overgrown..i do feel for people as you say that go on site all the time and come back to see someone has been on their plot....
