strawberries

Hi
We have returned from holiday ( we had a nice time and the weather was not too bad for us) to find the strawberries have rippened by the bucket load and the slugs, woodlice and other wildlife have also had a great time.
We managed to salvage quiet a few and have left the nibbled ones for them to finish hopfully this will stop them attacking new ones.
black currents have done well too
The green house has provided a nice big cucumber but not one ripe tomato.
we also picked a couple of courgettes.
all in all not a bad start to the harvest period.

We went away last year at the 'wrong' time and came back to currants hanging mouldy on branches , strawberries ,Rasberries etc all wasted , we won't be doing that again if we can help it ,we are going away much later this year .. I've been making blackcurrant jam , Courgettes sliced and fried with onions and tomato frozen for a tasty Veg. or Pizza topping in the winter ,
Your cucumbers are doing well ours are only about 2" long Lol ......
