Strange things happen before Christmas

Strange things happen before Christmas. Not that just comet had appeared, should have been the brightest on the Christmas day sky, but it was unexpectedly melted by the Sun.
Not only, that roses are in bloom a week before Christmas…..

but there is field full of winter barlow…

with heads full of corn.

Is this normal? Or GMO barley?

likewise ... in my garden, leading up to Christmas, various shrubs are surprisingly still in flower !

I love barley on a windy day! Never seen it at this time of year though.

Great photos, yes it is unusual but I have some roses still flowering too!

I have never seen barley like this, with corns already formed, in the winter time. For me this is some sort of message for us from the nature.

Is the farmer known to be environmentaly friendly, Katarina? I suspect that the barley may have been grown as a sacrificial crop for the birds. This is happening quite a lot now in Scotland.

Bulbaholic@but corn in December? This field belongs to the state, it is not private.

Your picture shows the barley in a corner of the field, K, so yes, why not (this is how I would see it in Scotland).

Lovely pictures, Katarina - and surprising. But I still have several plants flowering which would not normally be there. I put it down to the late spring, good summer and very mild autumn.

I also have roses blooming and some very confused summer flowers still carrying on although they are suffering today as its a what one would call a " Dull,Dark Day before Christmas"
Lovely pics Kat..

Lincslass, that is exactly what my mother-in-law used to say. Is it a quotation, or just an old saying?
