Veggie growing so far......

Well we’re looking at this years garden to veggie allotment conversion as a learning curve.
As well as learning loads and finding it totally addictive things are going ok’ish. So far everything we’ve planted has produced, got a great crop of peas, beans, carrots, beetroot, potatoes and courgettes. From just 3 cucumber plants we’ve had 3 a 4th growing, so thinking next year will change type and postioning of them. The peppers are growing really well and it won’t be long before we can eat them.
Our tomatoes have masses of green fruit which are slowly ripening off at last. The sweetcorn is looking good and we picked 1 today and we’re nearly there.
Our biggest dissapointment has been the iceburg lettuce, for some reason they all went soggy from the inside out ???
I dug them up and even the roots were mouldy and there were a little yellow grub type thingys …..
( if anyone could take a guess what went wrong, i’d love to know)
Hubby and i are really enjoying pottering about in our new found interest, today we sowed some late carrots, weeded and hoed the raised veg beds, even watered everything in the rain.
In the evening now i’m going to start recording all that we’ve done so far so we can learn from this season and do bigger and better next :-)
Happy gardening peeps xxx

Well done you two, you have done well. Its so exciting when you are actually producing something you can eat isn't it ! And another thing that is so nice is that you can enjoy doing it all together.

Well done!! Great-looking toms and peppers there. Shame about the lettuce. Wonder what got them?

Congratulations and well done, can't help with the Iceburg problem though I suspect they simply got too wet. A good idea to write things down, may I suggest that you note (or photo) where everything was as it's important to avoid growing in the same place.
