So whos up for a challenge? I asked on a previous blog for others to join me in growing all varieties of early potatoes in a bag. I suggested that we mark our sowings so that we can compare results of different varieties so that we can find. Highest yields, best flavour cheapest cost so that we can do our own exiperoment and report back with a survey. Next year we need only buy the seed potatoes and some extra compost if all goes well. So far I have planted out Maris peer, rocket, pentland javelin Swift Kestrel and Charlotte. Pink fir apple to follow along with maris piper in the ground king Edward duke of york etc. Happy gardening

I have Desire potatoes to grow in a tub. I haven't planted them yet though. I grew Rocket ones last year but I didn't really like them. I've heard Desire are drought tollerant.

This is interesting, I bought rocket in Wilkinsons for £2.98 for 30 so maybe I shall not expect too much from them. Who knows? It will be fun to see which is overall favourite. I have already had to earth my first plantings up

It's nice living in an old cottage. I used to live in a 200 yr old one, but moved here 4 yrs ago.
The one shown in my photo is in the Museum at St Fagans. It's called Kennixton Farmhouse.

excellent as long as we record anyrthing of interest too. Who will be the first to harvest? Shall we count the number of potatoes on the first pull? Also the weight of the first sizable usable specimens. This is just for fun of course.
