I have just bought a raised bed. I have already put in 7 bags of compost plus riddled soil and poultry manure but I must go out to buy more. Then I cant wait to start planting. I have 9 bags of potatoes well up plus 2 tubs full and still more to plant. I put two rows of rocket straight into the soil so I am curious to know which lot will do best. I have fir apple and king Edward yet to plant. Would you try them in the ground or in the raised bed? What do you find most successful with the raised bed? I have another on its way and two salad beds coming too. I do rather tend to go over the top don’t I? DO YOU REMEMBER LAST OCTOBER i ASKED IF ANYONE COULD IDENTIFY A TALL BULBOUS PLANT? After much discussion it was decided they must be Polyanthes Tuberosa Well I bought polyanthes tuberosa from Malaysia plus more from Jersey, and now my neighbour in whose garden I had spotted them, brought me some new bulbs of the same type. They were Acidanthera. 50 bulbs for a pound in poundland. !! Thanks a bunch guys. Hope they all come up anyway and I will keep you informed of results.

Lilypad I grow all my veg in raised beds as there much easier to pull out.!! It looks really pretty to. Put all your veg in the beds, remember to think about crop rotation and you'll be fine. Ggod luck

Me and my grown up kids don't like broad beans, we pefere Frencg beans. They will all do well in raided beds, follow broad beans with cabbages, brocholi etc as beans are legumes and leave nitrogen in the soil whitch is good for the cabbage family. Happy veg growing

Thanks a lot. I thought the raised bed could be covered to prevent the squirrels eating the pods
