a new addition soon to our herb patch will be basil someone was giving away seedlings on freecycle so got a couple for us and a couple for my brother fingers crossed homemade pesto later in the year ! or does it take a while to grow ?? any tips ???

Doesn't take that long to grow from seed. I've got an established plant but decided to grow from seed this year, and mine are doing very well. Delicious chopped and sprinkled over sliced tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil. You can add chopped or crushed garlic if you wish, and/or a touch of balsamic vinegar. Delicious!!!!!

I always grow the annual one from seeds. It grows quickly but never gets too big.
