The Owl staredown!

A while back we visited a rehab centre for raptors. Some of them cannot be released again, but they perform a vital contribution in education. For us the encounter with the Spotted and Cape Eagle-Owls were something to remember and very special. So I thought to share it with you guys:

Now, the Spotted Eagle-Owl, loved this, but was very particular to where the scratching need to take place…
The Spotted also like it, but also does a mean staredown!
This was so cute and I love the face!
Finally, he decided to give the one-eye camera a good stare as well – so funny, so special.
Take that, you..you thing!

Enjoyed your blog. Great pics. Owls are fascinating. There is an owl sanctuary about 45 mins drive from where we live, so I must visit it in the summer. It's called Owlcatraz!

Thanks. They are pretty big birds, and yet so elusive, it was great to see them and even touch them or interact with them on such a personal basis. It was very much worth the visit. LT
