Lampranthus and Delosperma are creating patches of colour all over the garden now..

Even Clivia and Mammalaria’s are doing their part.

Have a great day!

That's good. How does the cactus fare during the winter ?
Do you know it's name ?

Hywel..It is a Mammilaria sp. (which you will know), about best I can do in that genus! :) One of those I got from my father, which is a pup from the plant he got from his father...another plant with a story.

Thanks Drc!

It looks like M. supertexta. Mine started to rot at the base a few years ago, so I cut it in half and used the top as a 'cutting'. It's starting to grow a bit now.

I will humbly defer to your knowledge, I am a little cacti illiterate! :-)

love the lampranthus..i have 5 colours of lampranthus but find the orange one flowers the least...delosperma is much hardier though and has survived -10 and seems to flower over a longer period.

They are nice in the garden, Sandra, loves lots of sun, Delosperma cooperi is maybe the most well-known, because they are so hardy. Had mine in a pot for many years, never seemed to wanna grow, then I stuck it in the ground and now I have to trim it regularly - wants to take over. :-)

the shocking pink/purple lampranthus survived my garden for 8 years....it was huge but then one dodgy winter and it was all gone...i put them all in my tunnel in winter now just to be on the safe side.
i think it is a cooperi it had a lovely shiney pattern on the leaves.

With those little glittering diamonds in the leaves, definitely Delosperma. Love them for that.
