Clematis 'Kaiu'

This is the latest of my Clematis to flower, it grows up through Rosa ‘Summer Wine’
‘Kaiu’ is one of the Viorna group (3) and is a pretty, tiny flowering Clematis.
As the flowers open they have a pinkish tinge around the top-middle area and they turn pure white as they age, the tepals curve outwards as they mature too.
The size of the flower is only 2cm long and 1.5cm across !
They flower late summer and the plant reaches 6’, this is in a north facing, windy (south westerly) position.
This shows the pink tinge – on a newer bloom.
This bloom, a couple of days older is now pure white

No, this is new to me, as well. If you keep showing such beautiful Clems, you will really cause me problems, Louise! I simply can't fit any more in!

This one is already on my 'wants' list to be trained over the purple-leaved physocarpus 'Diabalo'

I agree, Spritz - would look scintillating in the late sunshine. Was looking at my physocarpus today and the leaves looked metallic.

Oh Grindle - I have a soft spot for MOST of the Clematis I see! I need a completely walled garden with walls across it as well....LOL.
