Yesterday, i went with Spritzhenry to the Malvern Spring Gardening Show, we met with Bornagain and her daughter, and Floribunda and her husband and friend which was nice – it’s lovely to meet up with fellow GoYers :-)
It was very cold, very tiring but a great day out ….. a veritable plantaholics heaven !!!
Here is what i brought back home with me …. they’re mostly alpine/rockery plants.
This is :
Alstromeria ‘Princess Camilla’
Alstroemeria Inticancha ‘White Pink Heart’
Antennaria dioca ‘Alex Duguid’
Aquilegia canadensis ‘Little Lantern’
Clematis x Eleanor (a low growing trailing clematis)
Dianthus freynii
Drosanthemum hispidum
Epimedium ‘Fire Dragon’
Phlox subulata ‘Emerald Cushion’
Phlox subulata ‘Janusz’
Sedum acre ‘aureum’
Sedum spurium ‘Dragons Blood’
Semiaquilegia adoxoides
Veronica prostrata ‘Lilac Time’
In that lot are 2 Fuschias – these are for my mother, she had them in a previous garden but left them behind and being another plantaholic she asked me to look out for them and ….. i actually found them !
They are Fuschia procumbens ….. i found a variegated one aswell as the usual one, so she’s a happy person too :-)

Smashing plants Louise! I expect you have them all planted up now! Been another lovely day here. Warmer than yesterday in fact. I've been very busy in the greenhouse sowing some more seeds, edging the front lawn, watering in the new plants, reseeding bare lawn patches, and generally weeding and tidying......it's great when I'm here by myself and I get loads done! Glad you had a lovely day! Are you going to Chelsea this year?

nice choice of plants..... i wouldnt know where to start if i had to bring some home..
9 May, 2010
For me...knowing when to 'stop' is the tricky thing!!
9 May, 2010
LOL, same here !!!!!
No Karen, not going to Chelsea, are you ?
I make do with watching the tv coverage now, i went one year and there was so much to see that you need more than a day there, great day though :-))
And, i've got a few of the above planted ;-)

I tried to arrange it Louise, but left it too late for an all day ticket and I'm not going to go all that way for half a day in the grounds. I've been twice and had fantastic weather both times (most uncharacteristic for me!). I'm not a lover of crowds, but it's worth it ...I love it. I love the t.v. coverage too and watch as much as I can in the evenings...probably get a better view on the TV but some of the memorable things I've seen there......wonderful! Maybe next year....

What a wonderful "haul" Louise.......all the plants I would choose too....I have the semiaqualigia....got one last year and it is in bud now...I had thought the winter would have seen it off.
The fuchsia procumbens you got for your mum.....that is a super trailing plant with weird flowers and lovely big red berries......Hm....I must see if I can get one again....and a variagated one too?......your Mum will be well pleased....glad you had a good day. Did you meet up with Grindle or did she break down before getting there?.....that would be .....aweful (:-

great selection of plants louise, glad you enjoyed your day, did you wear badges so you would id the GOYer members or did you arrange to meet when there, great to see others from here, happy planting ;o))

Alice, no, we didn't meet Grindle this year because she went the day before us ... and i think she broke down a mile or so before the showground, poor thing.
Mum was chuffed to bits with the fuschias !
San, we didn't really know how to identify each other but we'd agreed on a time and a place and then i saw Bornagain and her daughter looking around like they were trying to see/find someone and i just asked "are you looking for someone" !!!!!!
The rest is history !!!
Floribunda appeared about 5 minutes later :-))))

brilliant louise, makes such a difference once you have met someone ;o))
9 May, 2010
It does San, you get a picture who you're talking to on here then :-))
9 May, 2010
glad you had a good day and you have some lovely plants there too. you will have to take pictures of them once you get them in the ground.
9 May, 2010
How lovely for you all, pleased you enjoyed yourselves and treated yourself as well..

We had a great day - I'll post a photo of what I bought, too. It was lovely to meet Bornagain and her 'retinue' lol, and Floribunda. We deliberately arruanged to meet at Vicky's stand so we could all see her too. I bought a bee-you-ti-ful Heuchera from her.:-))) It was a very cold and damp day, but well worth going.

Glad you all had a good day, its great when you meet up with fellow GoYers.

I'm glad you had a good day too Louise and now you have an armful of plants to keep you busy when you are planting them all up :-)

I, finally, had a great day at the show, meeting Arlene, who gave me 3 lovely plants to take home, Thanks again Arlene. Bought some lovely plants too, got the semi aquilegia (think we have to blame Spritz for that one Louise LOL)and the epimedium, we must have visited the same nursery :D. Met Vicky and got some wonderful heucheras from her. I haven't taken any photos of my 'haul', still recovering from my ordeal :))) It was a great show wasn't it :)))))))))
10 May, 2010
SIGH!!! Why do I 'always' get the blame for everything? Hmmm...NOT fair. I'm off to have a temper tantrum! :-(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
10 May, 2010
LOL, but if it wasn't for you, we'd miss all these little gems ;)))) xx
10 May, 2010
I'm not here - I'm stamping my feet and screaming in the corner! xx
10 May, 2010
LOL
I'm going to sit you on the naughty chair if you keep screaming ;-)
10 May, 2010
I've only just found this doh 8~/ I see you bought as much as me Louise, but smaller lol. I still find this site layout makes it easier to miss things...or perhaps it's just me lol:-)
8 Aug, 2010
No - I often miss things...I find I can't keep up with everything...I hope nobody minds...It's not because I'm ignoring people, just that there's toooooo much to look at...and the garden calls! LOL.
8 Aug, 2010
I always worry about that, I think my paranoia may be returning lol:-)
9 Aug, 2010
You and me both, Ba! Now I'm off out with Henry...Bye for now! ;-))
