Well its very ,mild here today in Kent and yesterday I got one of those 5 tier plastic greenhouses. We put it together last night (very romantic i know!) and while the boys went for a kip at lunchtime i managed to get out and sow a few seeds and have a look at what’s going on out there. Lots happening already and loads to get done in the coming weeks. The snowdrops are in full bloom here and there are daffs springing up here there and everywhere which was news to me. Have sown sweet peas, calendula and some butternut squash today to add to the begonias, dahlia and lily bulbs that are sat on the kitchen window! The view when i’m washing up is a constant reminder of all that needs to be done!

My new addition:

I had almost given up hope on the dahlia and lily bulbs but then…

Have always wanted one of these so couldn’t resist the last time i was in B&Q. Then i couldn’t resist feeding it a poor defenceless woodlouse i found walking across the front room floor!

Some stachys byzantia and a bargain heuchera i bought recently. I want to plant the stachys with some black lilyturf grass i already had that needs splitting up…

So at last i’ve seen some action(!) and can’t wait to get stuck in when the garden’s less waterlogged, have got Rhubarb to plant and some veg to get started plus want to sort out the front garden so no time to sit and ponder, must just get out there every chance i get.
Goodnight all G.O.Y.

Advise for you on the flytrap, use nonclorinated water on it!

Venus fly trap. I have one and I give it only rain water out of the water butt and it has been sending up a flower spike since Christmas. Hopefully not long now before it flowers.

Well done Lountad. Your greenhouse looks just the thing. You certainly have your plans laid out. I hope the weather holds for you and you can get out there in the garden.

Looks like you have a useful toy mower in your garden.
My Sheltie has toy mowers. Could your boys please give him advice on pushing in straight lines ! Lol.

Good luck with your garden projects in 2009. :o)

Thanks all, the greenhouse was from B&Q, i think just under £25. And thanks for the advice on the fly trap - will start giving it rainwater instead of tap!

Hi make sure you tie your greenhouse up as the least bit of wind blows them all over the place.
