Finally the lone bud has opened and my neighbour has had to eat humble pie, as she was convinced that I had planted a rhododendron.

A very faint scent - but after 3 days away I returned to a brown bunch of petals! They don't last long, but I have noticed two smaller buds which may yet give another show!
