What lovely bark. It's nice to be able to see this through the winter :o)

That's really striking and unusual. Does it have red leaves or golden ones at this time of year?

I immediately checked my local nursery to see if they stock, size etc. as I will be in market for a tree in spring time. This is what they have written about it Stera...
A small open 'Snakebark Maple' with dark green leaves on red stalks. Good red autumn colour and attractive fruits. Happy in light shade.

We have a snakebark maple (don't think that it is davidii but I am not going outside now to check!) and they are lovely. Not sure why the 'light shade' Scottish because it is a tree and will grow above most things. Our main challenge is not to plant othet things in our line of view of it!
