This was the first turkey I’ve cooked in years as previously had Christmas with one of our children’s families. We did have a pre-Christmas when our Son, daughter-in-law and two grown-up grandsons came, but one of them had to work Christmas (Police Officer). Another son-in-law had to work, another lives in Scotland, another in Shropshire, and one on the Kent coast. So we were alone (boo-hoo and get the violin out).
Travelling would have been impossible, so we shall be having a few delayed Christmases by Spring.
Anyway the phone was a hotline, dinner was lovely and we played scrabble and watched some tele and had little dozes, so not dramatically sad.
I hope all GoY had a lovely Christmas. Thank you for all the good wishes.

Thanks friends. The turkey was/is delicious. BUT after our slap-up turkey dinner, we had cold turkey sandwiches for tea. For lunch today, cold turkey with chips. For tea, turkey and vegetable soup. Next I am freezing turkey slices in gravy for future use plus quite a large quantity of soup. Beef next year ......? A small joint.
Oh another one like us Bloomer, always missing the end!
I hope you all enjoyed Christmas.

We love turkey too,and with not needing one this year,we will miss the homemade Turkey stew.I always either cut the carcase up and freeze it till I have time to make a big batch,or make it first then freeze. It tastes so good
later in January on a cold winter evening, with a nice crispy baguette mmmm.
So many different ways to make tasty meals, and I love them all.:o))
Happy New year to you and your family,Mad...

Sssshhhh!! We had turkey at our daughter's, but we have a small crown in the freezer - because we both like turkey sandwiches, and we'll eat our second Christmas dinner on New Year's Eve!
