July flowers

Hi all ,its been a while since my last blog. I’ve been feeling pretty rough and off work for the last few weeks.. But as usual the flowers and plants can certainly perk a person up .. I was so pleased to have finally identified the small tree that grows in the center of my long flower border…
Its an Indian Bean Tree , and is just lovely with large heart shaped leaves and these upright white flowers
Here it is in the center of the long ( somewhat scruffy) border
I happened to find a pictures whilst browsing a RHS plant book in the bath the other night!!
I finished off planting out the new much larger border with some Rudbeckia Goldstrum, Salvia Black and Blue and some Guaras
The agapanthus that I thought I’d lost in the severe winter is just about to flower
As is the cape fushia finally about to flower after a successful move this spring to somewhere much more sunny
The chilli’s and tomatoes are doing well in the greenhouse, along with some sedum and penstemon cuttings
And my Elephant Ears bulb is very slowly but surely putting on leaves
As are the little plug plants of the Tibouchina rich blue that arrived unexpectedly from Dobies starting to look bigger and healthier
so everything is coming up rosy in the garden and certainly cheered me up whilst venturing out with my camera today..

thanks Lincslass, I'm an awful patient, can't wait to be up to speed again..Gardening is a good therapy though, even if its through a camera lens..:)

You're right there Hywel, they do have a good effect. When I've had a s****y day at work, I have a nice stroll round the garden, make a cuppa and just sit there relaxing. It's great.

Watch over that Indian Bean Tree...they grow really fast and can get enormous! We have to pollard ours every year or it covers too much of the garden!
Perhaps this is the time to do little and just enjoy your garden...Hope you're feeling better soon...

Thanks for the advice Karen,I was so pleased to finally identify it, its only been almost 3 yrs since we moved in..:) although I think our cold climate restricts it somewhat but it does seems to have shot up this year..

Lovely to see the Indian bean tree in flower - never seen the flowers before, only the beans.

I know its a bit late in the day....but might still be relevant.
I had a bean tree and like Karen in france. There they are fast growers indeed, throw out lots of suckers, good for cuttings, but they are pollinated by flies and smell pretty awful. They look gorgeous though with the advantage of beautiful big leaves but maybe not too close to the kitchen door!! How is yours doing after all this time?

Hi Resi , sorry just seen your comment . The bean tree is doing great. I've had to trim off some lower branches that were over hanging my neighbour's garden, and the leaves were much bigger as Karen mentioned , so trimmed more this spring. I've not really noticed a smell but maybe it's because it's not as hot here as in France. It's just coming into leaf now .

Sorry to hear you are under the weather, it does make a difference to see things progressing in ones garden and can make you feel better in yourself even if its through the eye of a camera, hoping you are back to full strengh soon, take care...
