we are off to buy a cockbird to day there is a market about 14 klm from us so we are going to see what we can find and then one day I might be showing you some new chicks but that wont be for a while as the hens havent started to lay yet.

i let my rooster become a Dad last year The chuck sat on 11 eggs and when they hatched out thet were really lovely A couple of weeks later we found that 8 of them were roosters. Never again LOL

Good luck in finding a suitable cockrel - two of my hens are laying now but Im not going to let George my silkie cockrel become a dad as I dread to think what a mish mash the chicks would be silkie/rhodestar I dont think it would be a good combination.
How soon might your hens start laying?
