House Renovation

Hello Friends,

Come on in, sit down, and help me celebrate the completion of our house project with a glass of bubbly….

Its been 5 long, hard working and more often than not exhausting and depressing work. We bought our house and it was in a terrible state of disrepair, it was ugly, cold, very dirty and old fashioned. It had been rented out privately for at least 30 years and it was just so unloved. The only way to tackle it was to rip everything out knock down walls and start again.

We saved the kitchen until last as we knew it would be the most expensive, one of my wishes in the kitchen was to knock the wall out between the dining room and kitchen and to put 2 patio doors in overlooking the garden, hubby moaned a bit as he preferred windows but I stood my ground as I wanted to see my garden from every possible angle, for 5 years I lived with 2 base units a bit of worktop, cooker and a fridge and we have now transformed it into I think something really beautiful. Mark my OH has done all of the work himself throughout the house and all of the kitchen and deserves a medal. We fit black glass splash backs so even when I am cooking or just sitting at the table I can see my garden reflected in the glass and it looks so pretty.

My bathroom was just a horrible green bath with the boiler in the bathroom, Mark moved the boiler and a door and it gave us much needed space to put a massive bath in, floating sink and suspended wall hung toilet, he then realised one of my dreams and put wall to wall mirrors on every wall and about 300 fibre optic twinkly lights in the ceiling and without doubt it is so soothing to light some candles, have the bath filled up with loads of bubbles and just relax under the stars as I call them after a stressful day.

In the bedrooms and lounge we have knocked down walls and replaced absolutely everything to create our very own 1st home together. We kept to a black and cream colour scheme throughout as we wanted the rooms to flow and have continuity and hence in the garden we kept to the same colour scheme and for me it really works, it may be a little too minimalistic for some but for me it works.

Its been tough, as well as all of that going on, as you know Mark also found time and made me my garden, my very own little bit of paradise. I have cried buckets over the years at the sheer stress of it all but he kept me going and going and going, he truly is a super star. Now its finally finished, we can hopefully just sit back, relax and enjoy….. Oh but one more thing I would like to do and that is too……. my hubby will really divorce me if I ask him to do anything else!!!!

Wow, just like a show home, and incredibly modern - matches the garden very well.
Love the sunnies on the cat - doesn't seem bothered by them at all!

It's very nicely done, and you'll be able to enjoy it together now. I love the French doors. I had them put in here aswell. They make you feel as if you're constantly in the garden ...

Wow Marion! Absolutely amazing! Love the flow of the same style inside & out. Plus the Life/Dance saying is fab! Enjoy your lovely garden over the summer. Great idea about buying a plant each anniversary - I am going to tell hubby he owes me 10 !
