Gardener's Delight

This is the first ripe tomato. It looks like three tomatoes but they are conjoined and have only one stalk just like Siamese twins but they are three not two! It seems a shame to eat it.

On the other hand it would be a shame not to...
(Incidentally Gardeners Delight will get redder than that if you can bear to wait a few days...)
Never heard of tomato triplets before!

what a lovely bunch you have there Marjories, looks good to eat - I like my tomatoes on the orange side rather than red, I could just eat one now, you have made my mouth water. lol. Bye the way how are the Crocosmia doing, lots of flowers on mine but some not flowered this year, hoping for more next year when they have established. Enjoy your tomato sandwich :O)

Nice though - how about making Chutney Stera - that is what I did with my toms when we had too many. I am going to get a small greenhouse this winter and so hopefully I shall have some next year. I have grown cucumbers outside and they have been a success this year, lots on - I shall be giving those away to friends and family as I shall never eat them all. I shall put some into vinegar as we all like pickled cucumber, but far too many for us. lol. Although after saying all that I have always grown tomatoes, just not this year, every year I have struggled to get them to ripen outside and by the time they have ripened I am sick of salads and seeing tomatoes. lol So fingers crossed for my crop next season. Just got to get organised now and level off the ground where it is going. Autum jobs yet another one! lol.

Still not eaten but it is nice red. I think this will be it's last day. Going to take Oliveoils advice and have a tomato sandwich !
By the way my Crocosmias are not doing to well, very few flowers. Next year the corms should have multiplied-I hope.

Ooh a greenhouse - that will be exciting. Daren't have one here because of the wind, but have some toms in the conservatory - only four plants but they are producing faster than we can eat them - don't like making chutney as i can't abide the smell of vinegar, and boiling vinegar does me in altogether! Can always pulp some for the freezer if necessary though, but haven't iven up yet on keeping up with the fresh ones!
Marjorie - enjoy!
