Immingham in Bloom

We have spent the last few days decorating our local church which is 800 hundred years old.
The weather has been extremely hot.
The judging was done on Friday morning so now Immingham is now waiting for the results ,hopefully the town will do as well as last year when we got a Gold Award.
These are a selection of the arrangements.
And finally two visitors representing the Pilgrim Fathers who sailed from Immingham.

The arrangements are stunning. It never ceases to amaze that there is so much talent for this type of decoration hidden away in the villages. I hope you do well.

I also admired the use of white flowers - they seem to glow in the shady interior of the church. I hope you did well in the contest.
It was fascinating to notice that the tall hat worn by the Puritan gentleman is so very similar to the traditional one worn in the past by Welsh ladies. Wonder what the connection is.

Was the hat linked to the Puritans code of dress as a push away from the flamboyance of the Elizabethans? perhaps the Welsh religious branches stem from that. interesting question stera.

Eileen the head ware is called Flat Top which is the same name for Welsh National Costume hat
Thank you for the lovely comments and also for all who looked at my blog.
We are now keeping our fingers crossed to see if Immingham gets a gold. The town has put a lot of hard work in it.

the church looks amazing. it is only 60 odd years older than our village one and I absolutely love the architecture.
I hhope Immingham does as well as last year, I remember your blog and it was thouroughly deserved.
