Oh what a lovely thought - Spring!

I'm glad you didn't spell out the dreaded word, Mavis. Can't bear the thought of it! It's very cold here, but no white stuff, thank goodness - but it is threatened. Hope they're wrong!

Here in West Sussex there is a perfectly clear blue sky, frosty start to the day but sun is out. The R.S.P.B. count has been done, tell me why the regular birds weren't up and about at 9 o'clock ? Did see a Robin, some Blue Tits, a Blackbird and a Spudgie (Sparrow) so all is not lost ! I am so sorry to hear that snow is still around in parts of the U.K., surely not for long . . . . .

I was just going to have a look around Newcastle Amblealice It was just going to be one of those nice days you know ,nowhere particular to go nothing par, ticular to buy. I like to look in the charity shops and the Grainger Market and then treat myself to a nice cuppa .There is a nice cafe where you can get a pot of tea and a teacake ,it has a nice window seat looking down Grey Street so its great for people watching. So I was not pleased at all with the s- - w.

Holly, is that the square block of suet , in a plastic tray with peel off top ??
If so, all the birds here go mad for that, they love it.
The Blackbirds and Blackcaps love it the most .... to see the tiny Blackcaps tucking in is a wonderful sight :-))))))

31 Jan, 2010

Bb. you 'do' seem to get very severe weather there, are you in a very exposed area ..... open farmland ???

31 Jan, 2010

It did Bonkersbon I saw 27 birds including two sparrows and my robin. The bird bath was frozen again but they enjoyed the fresh water.

31 Jan, 2010

Glad your count was good Mavis !
Yes Louise...farmland all around to the north south and east...woodland to the west ! Sooo cold this winter !

3 Feb, 2010

Nice to have the open spaces but yes, the cold exposure that comes with it is grim !
I've lived 'out in the fields' too ..... sheep as close neighbours and the farmers themselves about half a mile away !!!
Wish i still had that :-/

3 Feb, 2010

Agree Louise...you really cannot beat living in the countryside !

3 Feb, 2010

I hope the weather has improved since you wrote this entry. It`s been quite mild here for the last week and though it has become a little colder this evening. I am feeling optimistic for an early Spring! :o)
