New bin area.

Finally we don’t have to drag the 2 greenbins down the steep drive fortnightly…..with so much cut vegetation regularly collected the bins never seem to have enough capacity and consequently become almost immovable.
In order to create a new space at the bottom of the drive we had to take a very old conifer down….it wasn’t in a great condition showing many bare branches.
It was time to call our treeman Ray…..it was down in minutes and enough of the stump flattened as much as possible.

Instead of laying slabs we used the lovely Forest of Dean pink stone for the ground area after laying a thick geotextile.
I moved the Jasminum officinale ‘Fiona Sunrise’ down to behind the fence as a screen from the road.
In between some of the stones we placed sand and decorative pea gravel on top of that.I’ve planted a few plants which may or may not take.
The variegated Holly is a good screen for the 2 bins and has more room to spread out.

A very pleasing job we should have done years ago…… and I said there would be no more projects this year! Sometimes I think I just don’t hear these self predictions.

Looks really good, Julia! Plus Ray and his team had good weather to work in! Always a bonus.
I do like the warm pink stone/paving. Very Mediterranean.
It’s good to know that this will make things so much easier for you both and look aesthetically pleasing at the same time! Hoping all the plants settle and thrive for you too.

That resiting of your bins will surely make your lives easier, and it looks great too.
