A new venue for the walk today.

Considering the heat today, we changed to a forest walk where there would be shade and shelter.
The walking trail was level and wide and used by many dog walkers. Thankfully cyclists 🚴‍♀️ are prohibited so we didn’t have to be aware of what was coming up behind us.
My first impression was the sheer height of the trees and how majestic they were.

This Monkey Puzzle tree was dominating.

Halfway along the trail we came upon a piece of lost property!

Further on there was definite evidence of erosion and climate change…The network of the tree roots were so visible…usually it would be flooded there.

Along our walk whoever we passed, young or old, there was always an exchange of ‘Good morning’ …memories of those hot, crowded pavements in the past where speed was of the essence passed through my mind.
Our walk ended at Speech House a very ancient Hunting lodge…the following photos show the conservatory where we had a coffee.
If you look closely through the window there is a large bronze stagg in the garden and of course all dogs are catered for!

Nothing more calming than a walk in the woods on a hot day. I'm not a fan of Monkey Puzzles, I just don't think they work in our landscape. The tea room looks inviting..

Haha, dog ice cream, a new one on me. What flavour is the most popular, sausages?

Lovely, serene walk, Julia! Those tall, verdant trees..beautiful! Such a calm place to have a meander.
I do love the ‘dog ice cream’ sign. When I posted my blog the other day, I thought of your pic of the dog painted in the garage door! (my pic of the ‘Fetch’ deli with the dog design)
Love it!!!!

You do take lovely walks Julia and not having to worry about cyclists coming up behind you was definitely a bonus, the coffee at the hunting lodge was probably very welcome, we've noticed since unmasking was allowed that more people do speak and smile when out on a leisurely walk, it is all age groups, be nice if that continues...
Doggie ice cream is big business now and as you can see its not cheap, there are all sorts of recipes and dog friendly cafes know they are onto a good thing, us dog owners are big softies and they know it....Lovely photos Julia....
