A poignant time on waking this morning.

In 2001on this day that horrendous attack on the twin towers happened. I can remember this day so well .My friend and I had travelled to a very large GC where we both bought the Trachycarpus tree measuring only 18ins!!…..it was on our return journey when we stopped off to have a coffee we were beginning to sense all around us that something serious had happened. There was a particular vocal undercurrent. It wasn’t long before we were fully aware of the disaster.
Over the twenty one years this tree has achieved a huge height and a constant reminder of that day…..
Ironically today will also be remembered for the sad loss of the Queen and her journey through Scotland .She was an unforgettable figure in many lives. .

I don’t usually mention political issues on GoY, I hope you don’t mind me sharing this with you.

Don't mind in the slightest, we must never forget days like that, I have the images of the heartbreaking and horrific scenes engraved in my memory ....
Very sad times we are living through at the moment, our Queen served us well for so many years, was loved and treasured by many, myself included, will be missed so much .... God Bless her xxx

Of course not, it's impossible to avoid the political at the moment. A poignant reminder you have today of a shocking incident two decades ago. A beautiful plant with wonderful growth.

Beautiful and statement making tree . Hard to believe it is actually not very old. I also like the surrounding setting.

Fabulous tree even though it will always be a reminder of that awful day. Think of it as a memorium to those who died. It’s something that is thriving.

I’m sorry I missed your blog before, Julia. 9/11 was just so horrific, so many thousands lost their lives..a time not to be forgotten. We’d been the year prior and again a few years after the event…such different times indeed. Ground Zero was a place filled with emotion and painful memories..
The past few days here have been a time of reflection and sadness, although a celebration of her life too. I have to say, Operation Unicorn has delivered smoothly and a credit to the Queen….

No worries at all,Kate...Although a very sad period these last few days, it has been so interesting to see parts of Scotland I know nothing about. The history has enlightened me greatly. You are so much more related to this beautiful country and no doubt felt quite saddened with the news.
