Am such a happy bunny – having the biggest downpour on the planet, and I’m soooooo pleased, as I emptied the water butt at the weekend and there’s a hosepipe ban pending. Thankyou God, Rain-maker, Magic SkyPerson, Cloudspiller……….

14 Jul, 2010

It's lovely to se the rain again, we're in the middle of a thunder and lightening storm and the rain is bouncing off the paving. (Think it may be too much to soak into the soil ...... pity) The air smells so clean and fresh ....... wonderful. ;-o

The problem in the west of Scotland is, it has been raining for two weeks and it is cold and windy. Just look at the golf on TV. I can't get into the garden to do any gardening. It is like winter here!!
Linda

14 Jul, 2010

Yes, Linda, middle of July and I have lit the stove tonight!!!! I am not complaining about the rain ( a bit more would be nice) but it is cold and the wind is strong up here also.

Feeling happy here as well, grass is back to green again, plants standing tall and proud and 3waterbutts overflowing, however Brynner is scared again because we have had one loud thunderclap..........

At least it is quite warm here.Have your plants suffered much with the awful weather?I hope not..as it is so disheartening....

Glad to hear you've had some much needed rain at last. I hope it doesn't last too long though lol - or everyone will get fed up with it.

15 Jul, 2010

I'm fed up with rain already (HA! not really really!!) But I have a cazillion wild strawberries to pick for my family who are coming to lunch, also potatoes and all the veg to go with a roast. Think I will put on my waterproofs!
My house also smells of wet puppies but they are silky soft with the rain.

We had a right down pour here in Leigh-on-Sea Essex on Monday, two of my Water Butt's were over flowing from the House & Workshop gullys, two three quarter full off greenhouse gullys, the one outside the Workshop has been syphoned off into anothere barrel, the one near the house is nearly empty now so I'm hopping for more rain but as long as it come's in the night. I would like a W/Butt in the front garden but the down pipe is cast iron :o(

18 Jul, 2010

18 Jul, 2010

18 Jul, 2010

Butts indeed, I have lost my water catching area (The wooden shed now gone) So now have to invest in about 3 butts and attach to our downpipes. The shed was easier I just put 5 litre water buts under the roof and the rain dripped into them between the shed and the wall, simple!

18 Jul, 2010
