musings of a novice part 2, lawn tales!

1st of June? Someone’s having a good laugh at our expense, I’ve got my thermals on and the fire’s ready to be lit. The only good thing is that I seem to hit on lucky with rain; every time I put something on the lawns that requires water to activate it, it pours down within the required 48 hours!!! This time it was lawn food to try to spur on the side lawn that I’ve scarified into submission. 11 green bags of moss I put out for our recycling men; I hid behind the hedge when the wagon was going past just in case they saw me! I think I might need to give them a good tip at Christmas for all the extra work I’ve caused them since moving into our lovely house.

I don’t know about scarifying, I think I scared it to death!!!

I know exactly how you feel. I call it the lawn dance. First I cut the lawn and had to wait three days. Then I put the weed and feed down after a rain dance. Then I waited for a few weeks before I could scarify it. Then I had to start again with the bits I had missed. I fill bags and bags with moss. I am careful not to breath in any moss-killer so I look an absolute idiot into the bargain.
Whew

Thankyou, your blog has made me feel a little better. I can really appreciate how hard you've worked on your lawn. I've recently treated my lawn too and have now discovered that I only had a few blades of grass amongst the moss. Hubby is not best pleased as mowing the lawn is the only gardening he ever does and at the moment it doesn't look as though his efforts will be required for a very long time.
