how lovely you all are

Since moving into our new house last August, I have come to appreciate just how rewarding gardening can be. While I liked to see pretty flowers and tidy lawns in the past, I was work fixated and had no time or inclination to do any work other than mow the grass when it started to resemble a hayfield. I have recently been absent from work for a long spell following a bereavement related depression and only started to take an interest when the first signs of spring arrived. Corny, I know, but true; as the first buds and shoots appeared on trees and bushes and the weather started to brighten, I slowly began to improve and take time out to appreciate just how lucky I have been to inherit someone’s careful choice of plants and trees in our lovely garden. As my ability to identify what the plants and trees were was equivalent to that of my mathematical skills, I stood no chance without help and so resorted to the internet in my quest to improve my knowledge. And that’s where I came across this website. During this time, my friend was also suffering some strife and we would compare notes. Unbeknown to me, she had also found you online, and when we were chatting one day about gardens and plants, she mentioned GoY. It was a ‘OMG, how good is that website’ moment; we wasted no time in finding each other on here and checking out our blogs and pictures.
Anyway, all I really wanted to say after that long rambling account is ‘THANK YOU VERY MUCH’ GoY members, you will never know how much I have learned already from you about gardening, what works and what to try if all else fails. I love looking at your beautiful pictures and it really makes my day when someone comments on one of my photos. I really feel part of your community already, even though I’ve only been a member for such a short time. The other really good thing is you have helped with my recovery even though you didn’t know it!!! So, again, thank you and in the words of Young Mr. Grace….. ’You’ve all done very well’…….. xx

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties. Life really does get hard at times and you wonder how you're going to cope with it all. However I am very pleased you're on the road to recovery, and that we have helped you along the way.
I do agree that GoY is excellent therapy when one is feeling low. I found it by accident over 2 yrs ago, and the friends I've made during that time have been such a big support in stressful times.
Look ahead now and enjoy the summer and your garden. We're all here for you.

I'm sorry too to hear of your difficulties but pleased that you are "on the up". I found this site in March of this year,by accident, but now spend at least 2 hours a day looking at blogs, questions and pictures. You're right, everyone is really friendly and helpful and like yourself Mrs3 dogs I am so grateful for all the tips and advice so freely given.....:o)

I agree that this site is wonderful. I joined after searching websites for a particular plant and I found that people on here who know about gardening are more than willing to share their knowledge, and it doesn't matter to them how simple or complex the question is. They are a lovely crowd, of which I am proud to say I am part of.
I am very pleased that GOY has played a part in your recovery; long may it continue ;-))

So pleased you have found such a lot from this site as I and probably every other member has too. I came upon all this wonderful free advice and caring sharing "friends" last year and it was one of the best things I have ever done. I am so pleased that you are feeling more confident and happy to be in the human race again. :~)))))

I totally agree with your lovely blog. I have recently joined GoY and find it such a friendly and helpful site. You can be sure your gardening efforts will be appreciated by many, not just GoY'ers. I'm sure that neighbours and passers by will be watching your garden grow too and will be quietly admiring your achievments.
I'm so pleased your starting to feel better.

What a lovely blog, you brought a tear to my eye mrs3dogs. I am a big worrier and sometimes I feel overwhelmed with anxiety - sometimes about very trivial things, really; occasionally about bigger things that really matter. Gardening helps so much in both cases as it's so therapeutic, and while I'm out there I find that my troubles melt away while I'm working. Even if they don't go away completely, at least it gives me a break from whatever is worrying me at the time. GoY is a lovely site with some lovely people and that too has helped me. Blimey I sound like a sorry article, don't I! I'm glad you're feeling better and hope this continues. By the way, I also live in Cleveland (if you mean Cleveland in NE England! Oh, just noticed your England flag!

What a lovely blog, Mrs3 dogs...and I can so identify with it! Since becoming semi-retired ...but still teaching...and following 6 operations, I only recently have had time to spend in the garden. I too found this site last year and have learnt so much from the experienced gardeners on here....they are a lovely lot!
I hope you continue to improve and reap the therapeutic effects of happy gardening.
