So much for gardening the next few days!

Waco, TX got hit hard this week with a cold snap, but it was absolutely beautiful.
Here is a few shots of my backyard and the forest area that I maintain next to my property.
Here is my front yard and the two trees that I have planted. A Bradford Pear and a Silver Leaf Maple that have done very well under an organic program:

My rose bushes next to the fence are hanging in there, but the area around the bird-bath, big tree and park bench, that I pored 200lbs of organic “bed prep” into is looking a tad “snowed”..

The few container plants that I left out on the patio are completely covered in snow, but that is a good thing. Once snow covers a plant, the temperature will stabilize at around 32 deg even if the temps drop well below freezing.

Here is the forest area next to my place that might become a house property in the near future:

Isn’t it a beautiful little place?
Here is another shot:

I have cut trails through the forest and tried to maintain a beautiful wild grape vine that grows all over the native canopy. The wild “mama grape vine” really puts on quite a show in the spring and summer months.

I just hope that this wild area does not become another housing property. That would break my heart! I know every tree, shrub, and weed in that area and it is absolutely stunning in the growing season..
