Two days after the "dry root" test!

8 comments

This was quite an “eye-opener”!
Earlier, I had blogged the dry-rooting of a young tree: tree blog and I dry-rooted two similar trees, one in a pot of Scotts potting soil and the other in a pot of enhanced organic soil.
Here is the results after only 2 days. Let’s look at the “Scotts plant” first:

Not bad, but some of the leaves look a tad “droopy”. The over all health is not all that bad, but the tree lacks that “zesty” and “vibrant” look..

Here is what the organically “dry-rooted sister tree” is looking like after just two days:

The difference is striking.. And some say that “Organics” is a waste of time.. {chuckle}

A lot of folks on this site have suggested that I try tests on identical plants under carefully controlled conditions and that is what I did. I'll have to get some daytime photos of the two trees. They were both grown from tiny 6" sprigs for about a year and are about 2 feet tall, growing in 2 gallon containers. I have added some of the new "Alpha Bio Systems" Thrive product to the organic tree's container to see what happens. I suspect that the mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial microbes contained in the product might farther enhance the soil into a more balanced situation.
We'll see what happens! {big grin}
