Just for you, Hywel, Plus a Gift and a Disaster!

When I saw these fantastic displays in south-west Spain during our New Year trip – to coin a phrase – “I thought of you.”

While we were in Britain I was able to get to a GC and treat myself to a gift of three Heucheras : ‘Mahogany’, ‘Silver Scrolls’ and ‘Melting Fire.’

They’re still in their pots for the moment, but I’m planning to plant them in the shade of the boilerhouse along ‘Hosta Highway.’

Then we returned home – very happy to be on our mountain after just over two weeks away, partly in Britain and partly in the south-west of Spain visiting family and found that, in our absence, the neighbours’ sheep had got into the garden and helped themselves to our sprouts!!

We are NOT happy bunnies! But, knowing our neighbours, there’ll be some kind of recompense – probably in the way of some lovely fresh pork or goat – but I was looking forward to sprouts with chestnuts! Plastic netting fences have been erected to keep the wretched sheep out of our garden, but I think we should now look to erecting something more permanent! More cost! Ho hum!

Lovely display of cacti there. Glad you enjoyed your break, but how disappointing to lose the brussels like that. Like the Heuchera too.

Aaww - bet your neighbours feel bad too. Love the cloud-pruned trees by the way - any idea what they are??

Lol! I know what you mean, Nariz! I can't pass a cactus now without thinking of our lovely Hywel!! I have Silver Scrolls, in my garden Nariz, and it flowers for absolutely ages, it's a great little 'doer'!!

Thank you Nariz for showing these cacti. Aren't they fantastic :o) I love to see cacti. I haven't got any as big as some of those. There must be quite an age on them. And they all look healthy. I wonder who looks after them....
I am pleased to be associated with cacti :o)
Pimpernel lol :D

Lovely Nariz, they all look so healthy.
Sorry I chuckled reading about your sprouts, I know I`d have spit feathers if it had happened to me but I had a mental image of some very happy sheep...

Well I think the Sheep got the blame. Obvious the neighbours had no sprouts and raided.

They ought to give you lamb not pork!

Been out there since to properly check out the damage, and we've managed to salvage at least four portions of sprouts, but the b*****s got my three little cabbages as well! Partner doesn't like cabbage, but insisted I bought three little cabbage plants for myself in the market. If I'd known they were going to a sheep for its tea I'd have chosen prickly pear cactus instead!
