the surprising ramp beds...

when i planted these beds [my first ever raised beds] i had no idea what to expect in the spring, especially after that severe winter…i wasn’t sure if anything would survive, as i hadn’t thought to put in any kind of insulation..well, fools rush in, right?…it hadn’t occurred to me that the whole thing might freeze up…anyway, the daffodils did their thing ok, got kicked around some by the squirrels, and then, one after another, the perennials have come into bloom! what a treat..i suspect the heavy snowfalls kept everything safe….this spring i filled the blank spaces with petunias, and look at it now! it needs tidying up when i get a spare minute, but i’m so pleased i just had to share…
sorry that last photo is so blurry…the next photos are all of the shady side of the ramp..who knew a sunflower would grow there
this hosta was given to me by a neighbour..i was able to divide it into many plants..i love the delicate shading, and the slugs don’t care for its’ tough leaves..great!! :o]

Pleased to see your raised bed success. My beans are
suffering, its so windy here. Onions and potatoes are fine. May just grow French Beans next year.
Thanks to the member who suggested Bramble stems to keep pussy off. He keeps glaring at me !
(How dare you spoil my personal toilet space ?)

That was me Diane - glad its working, and hard luck on Pussy.
Odaapat, not surprised you are thrilled and isn't it great to be able to share it with so many people? Love your Japanese painted fern, wanted one for ages.

Your raised beds look great. I almost envy you as my won't go so well this year, because of this terrible weather. Anyway, good luck and need more pics :)

It's wonderful how things survive severe weather, and it's nice to see them all flowering again in your garden :)
