Red October

It was a really beautiful day today and the garden is holding up surprisingly well for being so late in the season. There are fiery flashes of autumn reds to brighten things up and here are some of them. Nature doesn’t just do red, it throws the whole shade card at you.

Thanks, all. It is still sunny this morning, but the wind has really got up which means that some of the leaves I photographed yesterday will be going very soon. Glad I caught them in time.
Sorry about your nose, Costas! Yes, Libet and Dwyllis, the sedum is great just now. It seems to deepen in colour every day and it goes on for weeks.

As you say Obj they go right through the spectrum and give a stunning display - something to cheer us up as winter approaches.

lovely photos....your nasturtiums still look great! I do love Cotinus ...such wonderful value with the lovely colour leaves, the flowers and then the gorgeous autumn tones..love it!

Yes, Scottish, points of red always look good in a garden. Like white flowers, it focuses the eye somehow. And yes, Karen, the Cotinus is just singing out with colour just now.
Thanks for the kind comments. Happy gardening!
