Hardy Geraniums for new Rose Border

Been and bought some more Hardy Geraniums for the new rose border, need to see more roses before I can choose which ones I will put in. Pictures and Name Tags for future reference of the Geraniums – now I shall know which is which, even if they do blow away
The one without the name tag is Johnsons Blue not for the rose garden, he is going in the front garden when I have widened the border in the front of the house, hope you like them, waiting for the rain to come and then will put them in the new border, it is getting greyer and darker but not started to put down any water yet! Think I may have to go out and do a rain dance – not a pretty sight. lol :> )

Lovely geraniums. Just keep sheep away from roses when you plant them! lol Jx

Hi Samd45 lovely to meet you, hope you enjoy the website, it is good fun on here, bit addictive too, happy gardening and hope you get some geraniums soon, a new addiction for me this year, had some before, but can't keep my hands off them, give lots of cover and lots of pretty colour at various times.
Hello Jane 21 no sheep here just dogs and rabbits and pesky pigeons, oh and a new addition to the bird population a parakeet, someone must have lost one, he demands to be fed and flies all over the garden sqwawking and shouting from the tree tops, all white with an orange/red beak.

That's enought wildlife for one garden! The parakeet sounds interesting! Jx

I am hoping to catch him, but he seems happy enough at the moment, just hoping the sparrowhawk doesn't spy him, he is very bright and very noisey, don't know if he would survive a winter out flying free. Time will tell.

hi oliveoil, lovely geraniums, seem a good price too, i have a few geraniums i had free from magazine, and have realised this year how pretty they are and what good prolific flowerers they are

Geraniums are a favourite of mine I have twenty + in my garden and can always find space for more, there are some beautiful ones.I like the look of your Tanya Rendall.

You have some nice ones there. I love hardy geraniums - they're so easy to grow too. I hope you get some rain. We've had 2 days of it here.

Thanks everyone for your replies, the geraniums are still in their pots because the ground is so dry, will put them into their beds as soon as we have some rain, it was supposed to rain yesterday, but think it has forgotten we like a drop or two at this time of year.

great geraniums mum. It's 'bogging' weather here! Didn't stop me going to GC spending too much and then going out there and planting......don't need to water them in!

Have put that last lot in elsewhere, bought some more from Woottens for the Rose border they are supposed to be coming tomorrow, hope we get some rain tonight to save me watering them in. Waiting until roses are on sale in November/December before I buy, have a list as long as my arm to choose from think I might have to take some more grass up. lol.

Yes, good thinking. They establish better then. I ordered mine about Oct. last year and they came in December. The year before they were much later....it all depends on the weather of course!

Yes, will wait, that patience is tugging though, want to see it planted up will have to make up with the hardy geraniums, that should satisfy the need. Still have to put the frame in - left that job for Paul to buy and install. He has forgotten, will have to nudge him. Maybe get the wood tomorrow and put it in on Sunday no cricket on Sunday. Relaxation Day yeh! Dug up some more grass late yesterday in the front garden, that is for the strawberry plants, where the sunshines for the longest time. They are in grow bags and this year they have been rubbish will put them in the ground and see if we get a crop this next year. Don't think the space is big enough for them all but will see how many I can plant and put the rest back in a new grow bag for next year or maybe have them on a shelf in like window boxes, experiment that is what it is about.

I bought 'Max Frei' and 'Striatum' this summer :-) I'm really getting into hardy geraniums now, especially the small creeping types. Most of mine are on the edge of my raised bed.
