This site is too addictive

Ok yesterday I was very very busy, digging out moving stones, clearing out bluebells and just generally getting messy and all because my eldest daughter has been talking again about lovely scented roses and lovely clematis and I am totally blaming her for my spending spree today.
I looked and saw what beautiful roses she had on her pictures and read about their perfume and of course I wanted that for my garden – hence why yesterday I was so busy.
Today I have been out and spent too much money not just on David Austin Roses but on Clematis as well, oh the pain in my bank balance will be just too much. Not to mention the pain in my back from all the digging and clearing out yesterday – and of course I didn’t stop until it was finished!!
I totally blame Karen Sue and Simbad and all the rest of you for talking about perfume and colours and oh well I just blame you all. Somebody has to take the blame. Think this site must carry some of the responsibility also.
The border is dug and planted and totally transformed and they better grow and had better smell pretty or I shall totally think I have wasted my money.
I bought David Austin Roses – Pat Austin, Young Lycidas and Port Sunlight hope they are all good ones, but please don’t tell me if they are not – I shall cry if they are not!
Clematis bought Texensis Buckland Beauty, Voluceau and Mrs N. Thompson, they look good on the pictures so had better grow up into fine specimens.
Right you lot no more talking of scented roses, or beautiful clematis, cos I am totally skint now.
Hope you like the picture bit wet (as am I) it hasn’t stopped spitting about since Sunday, just need some sunshine now so I can relax in the garden.

Pleased you're pleased, they are very much in bud and I am looking forward to the perfume, one of the ones you bought me a couple of years back is in full bloom and its perfume is fantastic, it is just at my back door and I keep smelling it each time I step outside. I, like you, love their perfume.

Great pictures and I can sympathise with the empty bank account, there`s just so many clematis and roses to choose from and once you buy one well thats fatal.

Love your blog, soooo true. I know what's it like going to a garden centre, I always spend far too much, but at least we get rewarded afterwards. And yes this site is addictive and the time just flies by when just looking at a few pictures. But we also learn so much from others and some of the pictures are unbelievable. Hope the sun comes out again soon for you and me both. It's raining here too in Dorset so that gives me an excuse to be on GoY for 1/2 hr or soooooo. You've done a nice little job with your new plants. Enjoy! And by the way I am going to buy some more Clematis'es, those 2 mentioned above have got me hooked too
