Last week week we decided to take a trip to visit one of our members garden which was opening for the NGS. We thought we would make a mini break of it & below is where we stayed. Gurney Mill Cannington.
The member’s garden is a mystery for awhile, I’m sure you’ll all guess who’s when you see a few of the photo’s.

Gurney Mill in Cannington

I think this fella above was wanting a bed for the night as well.

Now Cannington has a Horticultral College & last year the walled gardens were opened to the public by Prince Edward.

It was very interesting, they also had plants for sale & I bought a blue Meconopsis, there was a lovely patch growing in the borders. I’ll put a pic on my main site.
As the time was approaching 2 o’clock we thought we had better try to find the mystery garden. We had already seen the yellow NGS signs in several places, so off we go.

Anyone recognise the garden?

Yes of course it’s Spritzhenry’s garden. And what a beautiful garden it is, well worth our trip from Cornwall. I’m now a lovely colour of green lol. Of course I couldn’t resist buying a few plants including Barbara’s Centura – amethyst in the snow & little pots of butterfly antirrhinums.

Barbara’s lovely garden.

You can just spot Henry in the first photo of my garden, Scotsgran - lying up on the lawn keeping an eye on who's arriving - and yes, he did get some cake. :-)))

Pam - I'm so glad that you both came and enjoyed your visit. The gardens up at Cannington are worth seeing, aren't they! Thanks for posting this blog. :-))

Barbara, I have forgotten what you said the striped Cystis is.

14 Jun, 2010

It's Cistus x argenteus 'Stripey'. It has lots of flowers open today, but it's a bit windy, so I expect they'll all fall off. :-((

Andrew, I'm so sorry I didn't do a blog on your garden. A lot of my pictures didn't come out too well had my camera on the wrong setting. :o(((

That's a shame, Pam - I'd have enjoyed seeing Andrew's garden through your eyes! Did you see my PM, by the way?

Andrew - yes please. Just call in when you're passing. I'm sure he'll make you a coffee!

16 Jun, 2010

Barbara, I'm sorry I missed your PM but hopefuly I've done as you asked, still having problems with the site.
I will try & salvage a couple of Andrew's photo's there just wasn't eneough to make a blog.
Andrew I know where he lives perhaps when I'm up from Cornwall again he'll make me coffee, after all his brother is the Duke of Cornwall.

Thanks Pam - appreciated. :-))

We don't mind a short blog, you know! :-)))))))

The Duke of C's little pad is only about an hour from here - but to get to see the gardens, there's a loooonnnnngggggwaiting list, and you certainly don't get coffee!!!!

We went to Highgrove back in March, see my last blog Barbara. We had to pay for coffee & cake. Lovely gardens, not too manicured.

19 Jun, 2010

I did - thanks, Pam. I've just re-read it, though. So you 'did' get coffee there! I bet it wasn't served by HRH though. ;-)

Only just found this - straight onto 'favourites'. Cannington College has changed so much since I visited about ten years ago - and Spritzhenry's garden is such a delight!!!!
