Are all gardeners fussy - or is it just me ?

I recently moved a few things around (a result of bad planning on my part a few years back) and now have a wee ‘bald’ area. I was going to ask a questions on GoY for others to suggest what I could put in this available area but I didnt.
The reason for this reluctance was that I have quite a number of dislikes (over & above my hatred for ivy and conifers) and if I was to list these dislikes I might appear to be over fussy and I wondered if other gardeners were the same.
My dislikes include yellow flowers, daisy shaped flowers, lupins, or anything that requires over-wintering.
Do I need counselling, or do others have as many dislikes too ?

You sound like the 'norm' to me I hate passion flowers and next doors weeds (ground elder) I move things around my garden just for a change, and if a plant does not work it is moved or it goes.

Not fussy at all..I recently took out a geranium as it just looked untidy (although the flowers were a lovly blue/violet colour) it just wasn't me..The one plant I just love in my garden right now is my lavatera....It's grown so bushy now but am going to have to move it due to its size and position..I have next doors brambles coming into my garden now and have been cutting it down to try keep it out..So annoying (though I daresay the blackberries will make lovely crumble with a few apples ) :-)

I hate RED HOT POKERS! Glad I got that off my chest lol

Absolutely agree Dido.....Red Hot Pokers are awful, also Mahonia! Other than that I'm quite easy going but I admit to moving my plants round quite a lot. I used to HATE variegated foliage but now I like it and have quite a few shrubs with it......not sure when or why I changed my mind so never say NEVER! Not keen on untidy plants either :o((

There aren't many things that I actually "hate" . . . I have been sitting here trying to think of something and I truly can't although I'm certain there must be some . . . however, there are things that I simply don't choose to plant because of their needs or habits - like yarrow (too floppy) or lupine (hate trying to fight the mildew) . . . but I definitely don't hate these plants and I do appreciate them - as long as they are in someone else's yard!! :) I could almost use this same description for how I feel about cats, really - but that's a subject for another day . . . haha

I don't think you're being fussy at all. Sometimes constraining yourself leads to inspiration - even if it is your dislikes that are the constraint. In a garden you have to make constrained choices based on shade/soil/aspect/exposure anyway
For myself, I absolutely forbid there to be yellow flowers in the two main beds by our patio once Summer is here.
I wouldn't worry too much, Paul ... my hate list is endless - but you may find that you mellow ... I bought a 12 pack of dark purple pansies from tesco at the end of last year - they were still flowering and plugging holes up to a week ago when I finally pulled them out ... loved them! But pink ones -NO WAY!
